MAKE A DIFFERENCE ONE STEP AT A TIME
REGISTRATION
IS NOW OPEN!
WE DID IT!
Thanks to everyone who participated, we far
exceeded our fundraising goal of
$7,500 and 100 registered walkers during the
Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community on
Saturday, May 18 2013. We received more
than $9,596 in donations!
These
contributions will be used to support the
following CPARC programs and services: Advocacy, Early Education Center of Perry County, Family Education, Life Time Adult Day Care, S. Wilson Pollock Center for Industrial Training, and Residential Services.
This event - not only raises funds for CPARC - it
helps us create awareness in the
community about the programs we offer to
support individuals in need.
We appreciate the staff, family, friends, board members, volunteers and members who joined in on the fun! But, we would especially like to thank our program participants who did a tremendous job of raising funds for the services they receive.
HISTORY OF THE WALK
The inaugural Walk for a Healthy Community took place in Pittsburgh, in 2003, and raised more than $25,000 for eight nonprofit organizations. Additional walks have since been added in Bethlehem, Erie, Harrisburg and Johnstown. Through 2011, the events have raised more than 4.5 million dollars for 180 nonprofit organizations across the state.
Highmark Blue Shield underwrites the cost of the walk so that 100 percent of the money raised by walkers goes directly to the participating organizations.
